This particular underrated actor is a man who may be most familiar for sharing the screen with Arnold Schwarzenegger multiple times, but you may well remember him from a number of other significant roles as well.
In addition to being one of the many villains Arnold had to dispose of in Commando, Bill Duke was also a significant part of one of the toughest military squads ever to stomp its way across a movie screen when he joined up with Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Sonny Landham and Jesse Ventura to take on a virtually invincible alien trophy hunter in Predator. And, it being a Schwarzenegger movie, they also had to kill Sven Thorsen, of course.
Duke has also had numerous other significant roles, including the villain in American Gigolo across from Richard Gere and a senior law enforcement official in Red Dragon with Edward Norton and Anthony Hopkins.
Duke also left a strong impression as the Vito Corleone-like father figure in Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and appeared as Trask in X-Men: The Last Stand. He also was cast across from Carl Weathers again in Action Jackson.
Like many of the great underappreciated actors, he has been sought out for guest starring roles in some of the definitive TV shows of present and past times, including Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Kojak and Charlie’s Angels.
