TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
LAUNCHPAD McQUACK

Few can argue that the undisputed bodybuilding and strength training king of the cartoon world is Launchpad McQuack. Renowned for his work ethic in the gym and his never-say-die attitude in the air, McQuack has set himself head and shoulders above the competition in the cartoon world.

As inept in the cockpit as he is proficient in the gym, there can be little doubt that the increased bone and tendon strength from years of heavy resistance training are what has allowed Launchpad to survive numerous airplane crashes with only minor injuries. Legend has it that he has the highest maximum bench press of any Disney character.

From a bodybuilding perspective, Launchpad has been criticized at times for focusing excessively on pectorals and biceps, with the result that he is somewhat chicken-legged. It should be noted, however, that McQuack has achieved his results through hard work and careful diet, and without the use of any performance-enhancing quick fixes — I don’t want to name any names, but I will point the finger at Popeye.

REBUILDING THE MACHINE…

Back to tackle the problem area that I have let decline for too long. It’s another bitchin’ leg day.

TODAY: LEGS

Today I worked out in a different gym, and ended up using the mediocre machines there. The numbering system on the stacks of weights was relatively meaningless so I didn’t bother recording the arbitrary number assigned to the resistance.

Anyway, I set it up to feel about the same, just failing on the last reps, and it worked out pretty well.

SEATED LEG PRESS: 10 Sets

STRAIGHT LEG CALF PRESS: 10 Sets

SEATED QUAD EXTENSION: 8 Sets

HAMSTRING CURLS: 8 Sets
