The film almost singlehandedly launched the careers of Maria Bello, Piper Perabo, Bridget Moynahan, but 2000’s Coyote Ugly is remembered as strongly for its soundtrack as any of the acting performances.
Also appearing in the film with supporting roles are Melanie Lynskey, Tyra Banks and John Goodman as the endearing but formulaic father character, inserted for predictable but effective emotional impact in the vein of Harry Dean Stanton in Pretty in Pink or Danny Aiello in Madonna’s Papa Don’t Preach video.
The film brought in LeAnn Rimes to play a cameo role and record the heavily marketed theme song Can’t Fight the Moonlight, but the show was stolen by Right Kind of Wrong, a track that served as the protagonist’s artistic and inspirational theme.
Here, as well, is a clip of the song in the context of the film. In this scene, Piper Perabo’s character finds the inspiration that takes the song from a drab folksy track to an edgy urban piece.
