TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
LUCIA RIJKER
Today’s training inspiration is a woman who will need no introduction of any kind to the small but growing ranks of aspiring female fighters. The rest of the world may know her only as the actor who cheap-shotted and messed up Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, something we can hopefully correct.
Lucia Rijker may be the greatest female combatant of all time, with an unblemished professional boxing record of 17-0 and a kickboxing record of 37-0. Her level of domination helped pave the way for future female stars in combat sports and earned her the nickname The Most Dangerous Woman in the World.
She has also enjoyed notable achievements in the sports of softball and fencing, making her perhaps the multi-sport female combination of Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson. She became the Netherlands Junior Champion in fencing after one year of training.
As of late, she has moved on to a fairly successful career in Hollywood. In addition to her role in Million Dollar Baby, she is also appearing in the upcoming Star Trek film and had a recurring role in The L Word.
All right, with the strict training, diet and discipline of Lucia Rijker in mind, let’s see if we can make Training Day 31 something reasonable.
TODAY’S PERFORMANCE
10 Miles on Stationary Bike: 24:55**
- While this time was a personal best so far, it gets an asterisk because I was using a different stationary bike with different settings. While the model I usually use is set to resistance level 15 out of 25, this particular model only has 20 levels. Setting 10 out of 20 felt about the same, so I went with that.

10 Miles on Stationary Bike: 26:38 (round 2)
- This was on my regular model of stationary bike.
Jump Rope: 4 Rounds
Weights:
- Lat Pull Downs (x5)
- Wide Grip Cable Rows (x5)

TRAINING NOTE
A reasonable day. Nothing to be ashamed of. Getting a bit lazy with the weights, but that can be remedied in short order. The progress continues.
