TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
PATRICK SWAYZE
For today’s training inspiration we look to a man whose greatest struggles and accomplishments have not been in the field of athletics, but rather in the game of life.
Patrick Swayze has long established himself as one of the fittest individuals in Hollywood, and established himself as a notable tough guy with roles in Youngblood, Red Dawn, Point Break and Road House.
However, he had to establish himself as a real-life tough guy in his youth when his pursuit of dancing required him to simultaneously pursue boxing to defend himself from the obvious bullying that ensued. In other words, this guy was a ballet dancer that could f*** you up.
He has had to be tougher than ever in recent years, as a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer led to debilitating treatments that ultimately culminated in hospitalization for pneumonia.
Despite his illness, Swayze continued full-time filming on his series The Beast, where even though he was physically ravaged in real life, he credibly portrayed a Jack Bauer-like FBI agent.
For continuing to give it 100% in the face of challenges that could break the strongest of men, Swayze is today’s inspiration.

REBUILDING THE MACHINE…
Well, big surprise. I’ve been overdoing it a little. I was tempted to hit legs again after a couple days off but I can feel that they could use another day of recovery, at least from the knees down. We’ll make it a back day and do legs tomorrow.

TRAINING NOTES
Today I really focused on making myself take a two minute rest between sets, as I usually have to slow myself down in the gym. I also focused on getting the most out of every set and especially giving it for the last couple reps, again, something I’ve let slip a little bit because I’ve been doing so many sets as of late.
Total Sets (Back): 31
