From the lost 80’s files, here is Easy Lover, released in 1984 by the duo of Phil Collins and Philip Bailey (originally famous as a member of Earth, Wind and Fire). The song appeared on Bailey’s album Chinese Wall, and while it was the only true standout from the album, it left a pretty strong impression on the 1980s pop scene and is remembered as one of the strongest pop collaborations of the era.

The video is one of the early prototypes for the very common camera crane in the recording studio format that became extremely popular in more moody 80s music videos such as Forever Man by Eric Clapton and I’ll Be Holding On by Gregg Allman.

Here, also, is a very strong live version of the song, that really captures a bit of the phenomenon that Phil Collins truly was in the 1980s. This version appeared on Phil Collins’ Serious Hits…Live! album.
