TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
ZISHE BREITBART
In the early 20th century, it could have been considered a somewhat precarious existence being a Polish Jew living in Berlin. This did not stop Zishe Breitbart from not only thriving but becoming a legendary strongman for his virtually unmatched feats of strength and power.
Performing primarily as a circus strongman, Breitbart made his name with a variety of stupefying displays of strength, from bending iron bars, to tearing horseshoes apart, to pulling wagonloads of people with his teeth. He climbed a ladder while lifting a baby elephant.
His feats of strength served to inspire many amongst a people that had long been discriminated against. His life inspired the 2001 film Invincible by Werner Herzog.
Breitbart’s story did not come with a happy ending, but even still he found a way to inspire. During one of his performances (hammering a railroad spike with his bare hands) his skin was pierced by rusty metal.
A blood infection resulted, costing him both of his legs in the vain attempts to save his life. However, in another legendary display of strength, in an era where medical care was not nearly as advanced as it is now, Breitbart survived for eight weeks (and through ten operations) before finally succumbing to the fatal condition.

Supersetted Quad Extensions and Hamstring Curls
Back started to give out when I tried to do rope. I felt like Rocky in Rocky 6 when he’s being told all the things he can’t do while training for the fight because his body was breaking down…
