TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
ANGELA JAMES

Today’s Colin Timberlake Training Inspiration is a woman who has achieved as much in her sport as was humanly possible.

Angela James is considered by many to be the greatest female hockey player ever to play the game. Having won four gold medals at the World Championships, she scored 22 goals and 34 points in 20 games over these four tournaments. To these gold medals she added two more at the 3 Nations Cup and one at the Pacific Rim International Tournament.

Angela James, along with Cammi Granato and Geraldine Heaney, became one of the first women ever inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2008, and James was no stranger to Halls of Fame. She is also a member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame (2009), the Ontario Ball Hockey Association Hall of Fame, the OCAA Hall of Fame, and the Black Hockey and Sports Hall of Fame.

She was Team Canada’s leading scorer in 1992 and won a medal in 12 National Hockey Championships (being selected as the tournament MVP eight times). Needless to say, she played a pioneering role and set a strong example for women pursuing athletic careers in hockey, helping to build the game and elevate it to the status it now enjoys.
