TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
DAVE DICKENSON

Today’s Colin Timberlake Training Inspiration is a man who was one of the greatest players in American college football history, and then went on to become one of the greatest players in Canadian football history by dominating the CFL with his cerebral style of play and tireless study of the game.

Dave Dickenson finished his college career as the greatest quarterback in the history of the University of Montana, where he led the school to the 1995 NCAA championship and set multiple league records.

Dickenson would go on to play 10 professional seasons in the CFL with the BC Lions and the Calgary Stampeders, during which time he would be named the league’s Most Outstanding Player in 2000 and lead the Lions to the 2006 Grey Cup (also being named the Grey Cup MVP). He would finish his CFL career with a passer rating of 110.4.

His successes would not be limited to college and the Canadian game, however, as he would also enjoy NFL experience with the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers.

TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
LUI PASSAGLIA

Today’s Colin Timberlake Training Inspiration is a man whose longevity and productivity have gone unparalleled in the history of professional football.

Lui Passaglia’s 25 years with the CFL’s BC Lions as place kicker and punter stand as a football record, as do his career points scored, with the total of 3,991 being more than any man’s total in any combination of NFL, CFL or other professional leagues.

The man’s list of CFL records reads almost Gretzky-like, including total points scored, most converts, field goals and so on… As well, he holds similar records for career playoff totals, including most points and most field goals. His 89-yard punt is also the longest in CFL playoff history.

Passaglia was named a CFL All-Star four times, and has been inducted into both the CFL Hall of Fame and the BC Sports Hall of Fame, not only for his astounding talent and longevity, but his heavy involvement in the community.

When he retired from professional football at the age of 45, Passaglia had won three Grey Cups (the CFL’s Superbowl) and had scored the Cup-winning points on more than one occasion.

TODAY: DAY OFF

TRAINING NOTES

Total Sets (Anything): Zero

Well, this was not a planned day off, just one of those days where you run out of time and don’t get home or to the gym with any hours left in the day or energy left in the body. You can get away with a few of those but it takes a bit of vigilance to keep them from polluting your routine.

I got home and I was going to do a quick living room ab workout and write something about how at least these days off make me attend to abs briefly, which I have been neglecting as of late…

…but then I didn’t even do that.

In otherwords, this was not a Lui Passaglia-worthy day of training. Hopefully you can do a better job in your own workouts of honoring this timeless athlete.
