The talented pair of British musicians Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart first united in the mid-1970s, but it was during the 1980s, with the rise of synth and new wave music, that the Eurythmics attained legendary status.

While Sweet Dreams may be looked upon as their signature song, the duo produced a wide array of successful albums and singles, in addition to which they both enjoyed individual success in their post-Eurythmics careers.

Annie Lennox’s mistral voice combined with Dave Stewart’s music arrangements to give songs such as Who’s The Girl a depth and longing that was something of a rarity in the pop music of the era. The same depth and emotion is present in the song present in the below clips, one of their most successful and lasting singles: Here Comes the Rain.

Here Comes the Rain was released in 1984 from the album Touch (1983), and remains the favorite track of many Eurythmics fans. Both went on to solo careers after splitting up in 1990, with Annie Lennox’s albums Diva and Medusa enjoying great success. They reunited for the turn of the millennium.

Below is a haunting live acoustic version of the song.

And another live performance (with the guitar and the synth plugged in) from the UK television show, The Tube.

And for the remix-lovers, included below is the Freemasons Edit of the classic song.
