TODAY’S TRAINING INSPIRATION:
MIKE KATZ
One of the early figures in competitive bodybuilding, and also one of the principal characters featured in Pumping Iron was Mike Katz, who is now regarded as one of the founding fathers of the 1970s California weightlifting scene.
Katz undertook bodybuilding after a brief NFL career with the New York Jets.
After his football days ended with an injury, Katz became one of the more respected bodybuilders of the 1970s, placing either 3rd or 4th in the tall division at the IFBB Universe competition in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1975. Katz also competed at the 1981 Mr. Olympia, finishing in a respectable 15th place.
To this day, Katz owns several gyms and trains today’s bodybuilders for competition.
REBUILDING THE MACHINE…
Biceps is one area where I haven’t lost too much with all of the cardio training. I certainly haven’t lost ground there at the same rate as legs or back, so while I am upping the biceps routine slightly, it won’t be the “trouble area” overhaul that I’ll be applying to the legs.
