Quite simply, I defy you to watch Die Hard and then Mr. Destiny, and then tell me that Hart Bochner doesn’t have “corporate scumbag” on lockdown.
You remember Hart Bochner in Die Hard. Ellis, the bearded, coke-snorting, middle-management weasel who tries to sell out Bruce Willis to Hans Gruber and, well, you know…
“Hans… Boobie… I’m your white knight.”
And he is just as detestable as the corporate slimeball screwing over Jim Belushi in Mr. Destiny.
Yes, there was a period of time in the 1980s where, if Hollywood had a spot for a guy in a suit and they wanted you to hate him, they called in Mr. Bochner and he delivered the goods.
And as much as the Canadian actor excelled at making you hate him, it was a bit of an odd typecast because he was certainly capable of a broader range of roles. Also having enjoyed a career as a director, Bochner’s other notable appearances include roles in Making Mr. Right, Supergirl and Bulworth.
